Amazon mit Rekordumsatz, Jeff Bezos spricht nur von Alexa
Letzte Woche Donnerstag veröffentlichte Amazon seine Q4-Zahlen sowie das Jahresergebnis 2018. Beide Ergebnisse, die Q4-Zahlen mit 72,4 Milliarden USD sowie das Jahresergebnis mit 233 Milliarden USD, stellen neue Rekorde dar. In zahlreichen Bereichen kann Amazon auf eine starke Performance 2018 zurückblicken, bspw. auf AWS, das mit +47% YoY wuchs, auf den Umsatz in Nordamerika mit +33% YoY oder auf Subscriptions-Services, welche 25% YoY erreichten, in seinem Kommentar jedoch, sprach Jeff Bezos einzig und allein von Alexa:
„Alexa was very busy during her holiday season. Echo Dot was the best-selling item across all products on Amazon globally, and customers purchased millions more devices from the Echo family compared to last year,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and CEO. “The number of research scientists working on Alexa has more than doubled in the past year, and the results of the team’s hard work are clear. In 2018, we improved Alexa’s ability to understand requests and answer questions by more than 20% through advances in machine learning, we added billions of facts making Alexa more knowledgeable than ever, developers doubled the number of Alexa skills to over 80,000, and customers spoke to Alexa tens of billions more times in 2018 compared to 2017. We’re energized by and grateful for the response, and you can count on us to keep working hard to bring even more invention to customers.“
Weiter ist dem Bericht zu entnehmen, dass der Echo Dot während der Holiday Season das weltweit meist verkaufte Produkt auf Amazon war:
„The all-new Echo Dot was the #1 selling product on Amazon globally, from any manufacturer, in any category this holiday season.“
Sowie weiter, dass es mittlerweile 28.000 Smart Home Devices mit Alexa-Integration von mehr als 4500 Herstellern gib:
„Amazon introduced new smart home features for Alexa. Customers can now choose from more than 28,000 Alexa-compatible smart home devices from more than 4,500 unique brands, and Alexa Guard helps invited Echo customers keep their homes safe through Smart Alerts, Away Lighting, and voice control of security systems from Ring and ADT.“
